Since I was a kid (over 25 years ago) I loved two things: aircraft and comics. Comics to read at home and aircraft tosee at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport. Two different worlds untill some 10 years ago. Only then I decided to combine both worlds.
I’m a collector of aviation comics with a special intrest in my favourite aircraft: the Consolidated PBY Catalina. It was all initiated by the (now defunct) Dutch Catalina club inviting me to write an article about the Catalina performing in comics. Because of the club’s financial trouble, the article was never written. However, the hunt for Catalina-comics was on from that moment.
By now, I’ve collected some thousands of aviation comics including almost 200 comics featuring Catalina planes. They originate from Holland, Belgium, France, UK, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, USA, Swiss, Germany, Iceland, etc.
Far from complete, I think my collection might be of interest to other comic collector. Know any other Catalina comic not including in my catalogue? Please let me know. However, any other comment, like discussions about the quality of certain Catalina comics, or about aviation comics in general, would be most welcome.
